Presented within the framework of The Office at Basel Social Club, works by Scott Young, Alice Fraser, and Dom Sylvester Houédard recast the office as an unstable psychological and ideological environment rather than a neutral site of labour. Across painting, text, and typographic abstraction, the works examines how systems of productivity, authority, and self-regulation are staged through design, language, and behaviour.

Young’s paintings focus on the visual surfaces of corporate culture; ergonomic furniture, cubicles, polished interiors, where modernist aesthetics become instruments of aspiration and control. Fraser approaches the office through psychoanalytic and emotional registers, using humour, awkwardness, and symbolic slippage to expose how desire and vulnerability are managed within institutional structures.
